Jess Armstrong is a singer, songwriter, teacher and workshop leader, based in Sheffield. She has a strong, soulful and versatile voice and as a singer and entertainer, she’s a confident performer in any situation, from weddings to festivals in the UK and abroad.

But she’s much more besides; she has qualifications in BSL (British Sign Language), and has wide experience in community music and education. She began her working life as a classroom assistant, and she’s worked as a Youth Leader for Manor and Castle Development Trust in Sheffield, and as a key support worker for vulnerable children and adults. She has led singing groups and workshops for young people, from babies and toddlers to young adults, and has works as a musical mentor to a wide range of young people. In all her work, she aims to build confidence and musical skills.

Jess works for Yorkshire Youth & Music with some of the most vulnerable young people in Yorkshire. She’s done workshops and performances in Secure Children’s Homes, and is currently working alongside Rebecca Denniff at our Becton Centre Adolescent Mental Health project.
