Safe Space Studio

Welcome to Safe Space Studio, a unique music production space in the heart of Huddersfield designed specifically to offer a safe place for young people to collaborate and make music together.

This supportive environment is a safe space for young people struggling with mental health, offering them a chance to express themselves through music. Come and listen to your favourite tracks, play on the decks and practice your DJ skills, write songs and produce your own music, solo or with your friends, in a safe and collaborative space in Huddersfield town centre.

What We Offer:

  • Music Production: Access state-of-the-art equipment to create, produce, and record your own music
  • DJ Skills: Learn and practice on professional decks
  • Songwriting: Collaborate with peers to write and develop new tracks
  • Supportive Environment: A non-judgmental space to connect with like-minded individuals

The space is currently open by appointment
Sessions are open to 16 - 24 year olds
Book in groups of up to 3

We also operate free sessions for young people on Thursday evenings.

The Safe Space Studio was built in 2023, with support from the town centre development programme from Kirklees Council, from the One Community Foundation, Creative Minds and from The National Lottery Community Fund, our safe space is a brand new facility for young people in Kirklees.

Our Mission

At Yorkshire Youth and Music, we believe in the power of music to make lives better. Our Safe Space Studio is a testament to this belief, providing a crucial outlet for young people to manage stress, build resilience and healthy self-confidence through creative expression.
