Sound Steps Sound Steps is a 12-week creative music project for young people aged 18–25 living in Kirklees who might be facing barriers to work, training or education. Delivered by Yorkshire Youth and Music at our Safe Space Studio in Huddersfield town centre, the project offers a supportive, non-judgemental environment where participants can build confidence, skills and routine through collaborative music-making with no previous musical experience needed. Participants will take part in weekly sessions focused on songwriting, beat-making, recording, production and DJing, led by experienced professional music leaders. Alongside developing creative skills, sessions are designed to support wellbeing, teamwork and personal development. The project will end with an informal sharing event, planned by the group with support from our music leaders, giving participants the chance to celebrate what they’ve achieved in a way that feels right for them.
