Enrichment through Music

Yorkshire Youth & Music delivers inclusive, high-quality music enrichment for colleges across Yorkshire.

We work with further education providers to support student wellbeing, engagement and progression through creative music-making. Our sessions create safe, supportive spaces where young people can express themselves, build confidence and develop new skills, whatever their background or starting point.

What we offer

We deliver on-site enrichment, tailored to your college, students and timetable. Sessions can be run as drop-ins, small groups or 1:1 support.

Our core delivery areas include:

  • Songwriting
  • Music production
  • DJ skills

All activity is led by experienced music leaders who specialise in inclusive, trauma-aware practice.

Who it’s for

Our enrichment sessions are particularly effective for students who:

  • Have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Are not in education, employment or training (NEET)
  • Experience anxiety, low confidence or poor engagement
  • Are hard to reach through traditional enrichment offers

We regularly work in colleges, schools, Pupil Referral Units, youth services and community settings, supporting young people in care, Youth Justice and health-related contexts.

Our impact

Through music, young people have improved attendance, returned to education, progressed into college or university, and gained employment. Alongside this, they develop stronger communication skills, increased confidence and better social connections.

Professionals working in education, care and justice settings report that music sessions help young people process trauma, reduce risky behaviour, speak more openly about their experiences, and find positive direction.

“The studio gave me a safe space to speak about what I was going through. Music helped keep me out of trouble and opened my mind to new opportunities.”
