Where we work

Yorkshire Youth and Music is a community music education company working across the whole of Yorkshire

We support and create opportunities for children and young people:

    • with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including providing singing and instrumental opportunities for D/deaf and hearing impaired children and young people
    • with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
    • in Youth Justice and secure settings
    • struggling with their mental health

We make a difference, by providing a variety of music based projects that, first and foremost, respond to the needs of these young people. Our core aim is to remove the barriers in place for these young people to access good quality music making opportunities, which in turn can (and has been proven to) improve their chances in life, long term.

We work in partnership with a number of organisations operating across the county, including:

  • 15 local Music Hub lead organisations in Yorkshire (mostly music services)
  • Local councils
  • 2 secure homes
  • 2 local CAMHS services
  • Various local arts and music organisations

Since 2014, YY&M has worked primarily in West and South Yorkshire, with supporting projects that reach into North Yorkshire, the East Riding and as far as North and North East Lincolnshire.
