As we’ve been catching up with our trainees, we thought it was fitting that they would pick out three tracks each for this month’s Sounds Like…

First up, Morgan’s three:

Be More Kind by Frank Turner feels like a personal manifesto. Working in community settings and trying to make a difference for others, it’s a song that reminds me to approach every day with empathy and patience. A nudge towards kindness in a world that often needs it most.

Elevator Operator by Electric Callboy is just pure fun. No overthinking, no deep message - just energy and enjoyment.

Pink Pony Club by Chapell Roan is another fun one, but with an edge that’s deeply important to me. It’s a vibrant, unapologetic LGBTQ+ anthem — a celebration of identity, freedom, and the joy of being yourself.

Next, Lucy’s three:

These three songs are a mix of my current taste and the music that has shaped me. Working with mothers and babies recently brought back memories of songs my Dad used to sing to me as a child. Kristofer David by David Soul was a favourite — the kind of song I’d belt out with him, full of innocence and nostalgia.

Monsters in Disguise by Hazel O’Connor comes from my teenage years, listening to the Breaking Glass album that my mum adored. Revisiting it now feels like connecting with both family and memory, a reminder of the songs that stick with you across generations.

And finally, 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton is all about looking forward. Musical theatre has always been a huge part of my life, and excitingly, I’ll be involved in a production of 9 to 5 soon. This song captures that mix of ambition, energy, and pure fun that musical theatre brings.
