Yorkshire Youth and Music is a community music education company working across the whole of Yorkshire. We create musical projects and opportunities that change and improve the lives of children and young people in very challenging circumstances, including children with special education needs, young people in Youth Justice settings and children with disabilities. Our work has been funded by Youth Music, the Arts Council, Children in Need, a variety of local Trusts and Foundations and by kind donations from individuals.

We are looking for new Trustees to join us in 2022 to help us deliver our mission to facilitate:

  • the highest quality music making, related art forms and learning opportunities for disadvantaged young people in challenging circumstances, across all music styles, and according to young people’s needs and aspirations
  • excellent training and development opportunities for musicians, teachers and others involved in young people’s music making and learning

Please take a look around our website to find out more about us and the difference we make.

We particularly welcome Trustees with a background in the education sector, those who are working within the music education sector, or those who otherwise complement the skills of our current Board Members. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

Trustees are asked to attend five annual meetings: four quarterly board meetings (which include an AGM) and an annual forward planning meeting. We welcome active Board Members who are happy to contribute their expertise as appropriate between formal board meetings, in person or via email.

Yorkshire Youth and Music is soon to be based at The Media Centre in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Ideally, Trustees will be based in the Yorkshire region, but this is not a requirement.

In the first instance, please send your CV and a brief letter outlining what expertise you would bring to our organisation to Gail Dudson via email at [email protected].
