We are very grateful to The Keith Howard Foundation for renewing their funding to us for or delivery in partnership with the Nexus Academy Trust in Sheffield.

Music Leaders Chris Morris and Billie Johnson from YY&M deliver bespoke music activity built around individual psychological, behavioural, educational and health related needs of young people, through an ongoing consultation process with teaching and therapeutic staff.

Delivery takes place in three sites across Sheffield:
  • The Becton Centre offers mental health care for adolescents with serious mental illness, who require hospital admission.
  • Chapel House is a small school for under 16’s who are severely challenged by mainstream education environments. Music is offered as an Intervention activity, designed to support participants in working on issues that are keeping them away from mainstream education, often in the form of social anxiety, communication issues, learning difficulties and vulnerability.
  • Sheffield Children's Hospital, part of Becton’s Education delivery in the hospital, offers sessions on wards one day a week, encompassing small group and 1:1 sessions in communal rooms, and individual rooms of children too ill or vulnerable to do otherwise.
@yyandmusic The Hospital Band present their latest hit "Yucky Medicines" (otherwise know as... we couldn't not share Florence's amazing new track from her sessions with our lovely and talented Chris Morris at Sheffield Children's Hospital)... Team BeMoreFab (@bemorefab) posted this (from a few weeks ago) when Florrie and Freddie were having a music lesson with two of their favourite teachers, Steven and Chris. Florrie had to start a new (yucky) medicine that day, so guess it just made sense to write a song about it? "Music therapy with Chris is something that our whole family looks forward to on a Tuesday. The music brings so much happiness to the ward and enables the children to make friends. Not only is Chris wonderful at his job, he is also incredibly kind and compassionate. When our daughter was on a ventilator, Chris came and played her favourite songs alongside one of her teachers. It was beautiful and pure. It is something that our family will never forget and something that we will always be incredibly thankful for." That was Stacey and Andrew Bark taalking about their daughter, Florence (the star of our vid) and Freddie making music with our facilitator, Chris in sessions at Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS and Charity @childrenshospitalcharity ♬ original sound - YYandMusic
