The perfect accompaniment to this month's Music Makes Lives Better Because article, here are our Director, Gail Dudson's top picks for brilliant Brass-based bonanzas for your Boom Box (we can also hardly ever resist a bit of alliteration)...

First off is a track from the brilliant film, "Brassed Off", which celebrates the British Brass Band tradition alongside telling the very real story of the colliery closures and what hardship working class people in Yorkshire faced at the time. We love the film here at YYM, so it had to go on this month's playlist somehow:


This is the Black Dyke Band with their world premiere performance of a work by Peter Graham. The first four minutes alone show the astonishing virtuosity of the players:
