Sita has told stories for 30 years. Now she's writing them down. She was born and raised in Bombay. After a degree in Drama at Exeter University, Sita worked with Common Lore storytellers and musicians for several years. Since then she has worked as an actress, presenter, writer, director, producer and arts & heritage consultant in the UK, India and South East Asia. Her previous roles include Associate Director of Theatre Centre, Artistic Associate of Haymarket Theatre Leicester; Artistic Director for Rich Mix, and Programme Director for decibel at Arts Council England.

In 2010, she established the charity Settle Stories who use the transformative power of story to change lives and enable the vulnerable and disenfranchised to have a voice. It is an ambitious charity committed to collaboration and doing things differently. The work includes year round events, a flagship festival, and a Learning Programme.

She has travelled widely, researching traditional theatre and storytelling in India, living in Buddhist temples in Thailand and walked through a field of unexploded ordnance in Laos. After a career in theatre and travelling the world she settled in the Yorkshire Dales for a quiet life, but ended up establishing Settle Stories. She has written & performed several one woman shows including 'Memories of an Indian Childhood'. Her first interactive fiction for children, 'Down the Rabbit Hole', launched in 2018. Her first children’s book, 'The Dragon’s Pearl', was published by Settle Stories Press in 2018. She is currently researching her new storytelling show, 'Walking in Minefields' about her experiences in Laos. This project sees her collaborate with sound designer and composer Nicola Chang for the first time.

Sita has been working with Yorkshire Youth & Music, evaluating our project in women’s prisons in Yorkshire.
