Opera North is the recipient organisation of one of 4 new In Harmony commissions, awarded by Arts Council, England.

In Harmony is a national education programme, based on the Venezuelan El Sistema principle, which aims to inspire and transform the lives of children in deprived communities by using the power of community-based orchestral music-making.

Three previous recipients (in Liverpool, London and Norwich) were part of the national pilot of the scheme, two of which will continue to receive funding due to their amazing success stories. The four new recipients are: Opera North, The Sage Gateshead, Nottingham City Council and Telford & Wrekin Music.

Opera North will be working with Windhill Primary and children’s centre in South Leeds.
