We have an extensive network of musicians who are able to work on Early Years projects throughout the region.

Over the last five years we have worked on long-term projects in more than 30 early years settings throughout West Yorkshire. A key part of our early years work is always around developing the skills of setting staff so that they have the confidence and skills to continue music making after our time with them has come to an end.

In early 2012, we began work on a project in Calderdale which has the aim of raising CLLD and PSED attainment in children who are below the target levels for the age. Over fifteen weeks of regular sessions, we are developing their singing and rhythm skills, using songs and working methods which are designed to improve their speaking and listening, turn-taking and self-confidence. We continued this ground-breaking work across Bradford in 2014 – 15.

We know that regular music making with children aged 0-5 can play a significant role in supporting the child’s overall development. Please contact us for information and advice about developing singing in your setting, or to discuss ideas for project work.
