Deaf Instrumental Learning update: Eloise Garland attends the Women of the Year lunch!

We’re so pleased that our fantastically talented colleague, Eloise Garland, was selected as one of the 450 women to attend the annual Women of the Year lunch. Eloise is a great role model for Deaf people, musicians and for young women everywhere. We were particularly delighted to see her report that she’d taught Mel Giedroyc (of past Bake Off fame) the sign for ‘cake’ whilst attending the lunch at the Royal Lancaster Hotel on 14th October!

Here is the BSL sign for ‘cake’:

Eloise, along with Sean Chandler, is one of a leaders of Deaf Instrumental Learning, which has visited Wakefield and Sheffield recently and over 70 children and young people have had the opportunity to try a range of different musical instruments. We’re working to encourage more Deaf young people to take up instrumental learning across the region, supported by Children in Need.
