Arts Awards for 6 children with SEND in Yorkshire!
Last term, Yorkshire Youth & Music was working at Woodley School and College in Kirklees, a special school for young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
Andrew Cleaton was in the school for one day a week, working with 20 children in small groups. They used music technology including a loop machine, microphones, soundbeam and iPads, played ukuleles, guitars and percussion, sang songs and talked about their favourite music.
Six pupils from the school achieved their Arts Award Discover; among the talents on show was some perfect and beautiful singing, and one young man who could play the riffs and melodies of many an AC/DC song by ear.
This term, we’re in Southfield School, a large general special school close to the centre of Bradford.
